What if there are multiple cultures within an organization?

Posted by Sharon Habib on May 22, 2009

Our presentation at the HRMA conference in Victoria was a lot of fun. HR people are great at getting totally engaged in the discussion. What was interesting was the common question that came up in this presentation and the one we did the previous week for the Federated Press conference: Should you have a homogenous culture in order to have an internal brand - what if you have multiple cultures?

Of course I have an opinion, but I thought I’d throw this question out to those of you who read our blog. What do YOU think? We’d love to get the conversation going.

Interesting question - I think what’s important is to have a homogenous core value base- if that exists amidst a multicultural organization, then diversity can be the competitive advantage.
